Cheque Printing Software

I really get fed up getting out a pen to write a cheque (don't write much these days).

Anyone know of any cheque writing/printing software?

The Banks say one should always use "ink" but surely an Impact or Laser printer should be acceptable.

TIA for comments/suggestions

Laser cheques are fine - i get them from a firm called "business stationery direct" in hinkley and they are about 20p each and work with quickbooks, but the choice of supplier may be decided by what accounting software you use, as a completely "bespoke" cheque can cost more than standard ones which are just overprinted with your own details. Best to make sure they have an apacs approval code (the tiny 4 digit code you see on all cheques)

Jeez, what's the world coming to?

Is the business of getting a pen out really so onerous? What exactly is it about the process of extending hand and figures to grasp a pen, that makes you so fed up.

What could be quicker and more efficient. Surely you'll be even more tired by the process of switching on computer and printer, feeding paper into printer and setting up software to print the cheque.

After all that, you'll still have to get your pen out to sign the cheque. Why not save yourself a load of hassle and just write the bloody thing. Shouldn't take more than 15 seconds.

Cheers,

Not if you use an automated secure cheque signing system.

How many on the domestic front actually do this though?

Impact? Well, I guess if you can convince your bank to give you cheques printed on thermal paper...

Impact printer's have electro-driven pins that impact an inked ribbon that imprints on the paper - surely you know that!
