Churchill home insurance and personal possessions cover

Churchill, with whom my car is insured as of last week, quote a very good price for buildings and contents - £171. But when I include £2,500 personal possessions cover (the default is None) the quote shoots up to £198.

Is this personal possessions cover worth the extra £27?

Up to you .. do you think there is a >1/100 chance of losing your £2500 worth of personal possessions in the next year, and would it wipe you out if you did and had to replace them? If the answer is 'hell no' then maybe you ought self insure.

£171 to £198 - most certainly it shot up! You are corresponding with someone who will walk to the other side of town if an item is one penny cheaper.

Takes 15 minutes.

Then you didn't do the cost analysis properly, since shoe leather and calories to walk 15 minutes costs you more than 1p.

On the contrary, I have rubber soles, and losing calories is a bonus. Moreover, the elation of finding something cheaper adds to my feeling of well-being.
