Council Tax Query

In bankrupty he loses ownership of the flat so how could he be liable to council tax on it?

I don't think anyone is suggesting this is the case.

I would think so.

You could be right.

Technically a bankrupt can not incur debt, and council tax is a preferential creditor anyway. S

Sounds sensible, so he should refer the council to his trustee in bankruptcy.

Agreed.

Did you go personally bankrupt, or did your company go into liquidation.

If the former, it seems from the development of the thread that the flat forms part of your assets, which would have been seized by your trustee, so just refer the council to your trustees in bankruptcy, (or the person that managed the bankruptcy, if trustee is not the right word ).

If your company went into liquidation, and you did not go personally bankrupt, carry on as suggested.
