Debit card authorisation

Hello,

One of my accounts had cleared funds of around £55 available, I filled the car up with diesel (around £52 this time) and tried to buy a map for £9 at the same time. The transaction was declined of course.

Now, although the £61 transaction was not completed on this account there is an amount of £61 showing as a pending transaction. The transaction isn't going to take place as the bill was paid from a different account.

Does this sound right? Does an unsuccessful debit card authorisation "ring-fence" the funds? If so, how long for?

Will that £55 become available again automatically?

yes, in a few days or straight away if you tell your bank.
