Exchanging French Francs

Jan 18, 2004 7 Replies

Have just found an envelope with french francs in. Am I too late to exchange these (to GBP or Euros)?

No you can still change them, comission free, at any National bank in the Euro countries.

There are claims that you can still change them at UK exchange offices, but I have no idea whether this is the case or not

Is this the case with other legacy currencies? I'm sure I have some lire and pesetas somewhere.

Click on the country that interests you and you will see when the currency becomes unchangeable

Thanks. So I can just show up at the Bank of England in Threadneedle St and get them changed?

I think not. I think it is only the banks in countries where the Euro is legal tender, BICBW
