Fake Abbey email doing the rounds

Today rec'd an email supposedly coming from Abbey (see below) - unfortunately for them, Abbey have just changed their website homepage and looks nothing like the homepage in the link from the email. Also, what on earth is that telephone number. Certainly not a UK one. Better luck next time....

Not at all, it looks identical. And its still up. And in fact it seemingly redirects to

which is exactly the same URL as if you go to

and also get redirected to

No it doesn't - the old website was blue - the new one is orange and they've added a deck chair.

p.s that number appears to be a Citibank telephone number so its not exactly a great scam, if it is.

Just a guess but I wonder if Abbey has outsourced the service that send emails to customers to another org, and that "other org" also does work for Citibank, and that other org has screwed up?

although the address abbey.com appears in the fake e-mail, the true link will be to another address - normally something like http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080/wifheifjiew . a clever fake site will even appear to display the correct address in your browser. The malicious address is disguised as the real address in these types of message

It is an American phone number. Google thinks it belongs to Citibank.

Followup; I guess you might well be right, just occurred to me that there is no way to tell since the message posted here is using the text cut and pasted and so we dont know what was in the original email, i.e. if there was some underlying java hiding the real URL.
