Going over overdraft limit

I have managed to go 15 over my overdraft limit with HSBC and will therefore have to pay a bank charge. I wondering if this would be registered on my credit report with Experian.

Thanks.

Highly unlikely.

AFAIAA,HSBC dont supply the credit agencies with payment info on current accounts.

Why not ask the bank? They ought to tell you what they tell the credit reference agencies, and when -- after all, you only need to pay a few quid to find out everything anyway, so they've nothing to gain by dissembling or demurring.

HSBC are one of the best banks, if you had done this with Alliance and Leicester there would be a 25 charge for an unauthorised tranaction this month and a 25 charge next month for going overdrawn last month as it were...which being completely unexpected sends you overdrawn next month, and so it goes on...

HSBC won't do anything like that, they might let you off if you haven't erred previously, wait and see what happens. Experian etc won't be involved.

But RBS run (at least they did 10 years ago) a search on you with Experian if you go over an overdraft (aka 'convenience') limit.

'course the reason in this case for going over my 'convenience' limit was that they had paid cheque #1 from my company account *back into* my company account and not into my personal current account....

They don't supply agencies with details of credit cards either as far as I can see. Both my Lloyds Create and HSBC credit card doesn't show on my Experian or Equifax records. I have heard that miss a payment and they will pass that on though.

If its the first time you've ever done it then ring them up or go in and see them and ask them really nicely if they'll waive the charges this once. Its worth a try

But a 'search' isnt the same as recording details of your transgression.

If you go o/d with Abbey then as long as you haven't transgressed previously in the previous six months, they will refund the fees automatically, no questions asked. I think that is pretty fair.

Barclay card does pass the message. One of my payments had arrived the next day after the due date, which has spoiled the pretty line of zeroes in the credit file.

Yes, almost all banks will pass on your credit information to the agencies, there are a few that don't though.

My parents were a few days late with a payment once on a credit card they'd had for nearly 10 years. They were charged a few but was marked as being paid on time on the credit history.

For sure, just that I wasn't aware that banks might do searches on their customers under such circumstances - makes sense 'tho - an o/d where soneone is 'clean' on other debts is different from one where someone has maxed out their plastic...

Many years ago I once scaped overdraft charges 'cos my then employer was late in paying salaries and my pension d/d came out on the 2nd - I guess that was a good enough excuse ;-)
