actually i dont know whether this is the right to ask this particular question but it would be great if anyone could explain me how the points at the stock exchange is calculated.thanks in advance



If you're meaning the FTSE index etc, basically they calculated the value of the top 100 companies at some date, and compare that with the present value. The present value is, for each company, the number of shares * the current price.

It's far more techincal than that, but that's a start.
