According to the Daily Express the self styled "world's greatest newspaper" :-), and many others, average house prices are rising at a rate of £2000 a week after picking up again in November.

Darn, there goes my chance to move to a larger gaff. Still where I have a flat (Bournemouth clifftops) prices didn't even pause for breath in

2005 :-(.

???? That's £100,000 a year, or 55% of the average house price.

They did fall £2000 in the previous 3 weeks though and remember these are initial asking prices only, reductions are not considered.

Looking at the report, south-west lost 4% on the month, maybe you could just spin that to a 50% drop for the year and give yourself some hope?

In truth, we won't know until the spring has come and gone what is likely for the year, but don't buy into spin, read the reports, check the agents, selling prices and make your own judgements.

That sounds more like it :-)
