Not my manor so I can only give you general advice.

Make sure your accountant is ACA or ACCA ("Chartered" or "Chartered Certified"). Ask around other businesses, people with excellent accountants will be glad to bring them extra business!

A Chartered Accountant will charge his clients anything from £80 to £150 per hour. He will have lots of assistance - a tax expert, maybe a retired Inspector of Taxes, £80 per hour, junior staff £40 per hour. The cost will depend on the work involved but you should be able to negotiate a cheap fixed price for the first set of accounts.

After that, with all your data in his machines and your records easy to "bump in", the costs will settle at maybe £600-£1,000 a year. A good accountant will very likely save you that much again in tax!

That's what my accountant charges per year for our 2 person Ltd. company, I think it was about £700 this year.

Charges will of course vary between firms to some degree and the actual bill you end up with depends to a very large extent on how good your accounting records are and the complexity of your business.

You also need to check the qualifications of your accountant (e.g. Chartered or Certified). Most are unqualified (see wealth warning on my firm's website) and may be cheaper as a result.

Most accountants will give an hour or so FOC so you can often gauge how on the ball they are at the first meeting.
