How secure is a share ISA

How secure are Share ISA's - for instance if fundmanager goes bust are there any FSA safeguards like the savings 50k guarantee

e.g. assume Fidelity went bust and you had a fidelity share ISA like China Special Situations - would the ISA be safe?

Has there been any cases of fund managers going bust and did the investors get their money.

Just curious in case the situation arose - can't find any information on the fund sites.

Thanks

Theoretically it should be completely safe as the investor's money & shares are held separately from the fund manager's money, and in the event of the fund manager going bust, client money/shares are safe from creditors.

It's not like bank deposits where the bank lends out the money you put in your account.
