I.S.A Savings

Hi Anyone able to advise?? I have a Mini Cash I.S.A with H.S.B.C (full amount

3000) over past two years 2003/2005. Can I transfer this I.S.A to Bristol and West who have a fixed one year mini cash I.S.A bond paying 5.55% over the year 2005/2006 and also take out another bond for 3000 for the same period, or could I transfer from H.S.B.C to a mutual before April 5th 2005?

Thanks Howard J.

Yes (but don't encash and pay B&W the money. Use a proper form of transfer from B&W) and yes.

Not sure what you're getting at here. What has a mutual to do with it?

Hi Rob

Thanks for your prompt reply and advice. I have read that mutual building societies paid far better interest rates for I.S.A.s than all the leading banks for 2004/2005. Sorry for the confusion but I assumed that if you take out an I.S.A with a bank you could not transfer the same I.S.A to a mutual building society, but stick with the main banks, it now appears that I am mistaken. (Bristol and West being a mutual). Many Thanks Howard Jones

The rules don't prohibit a swap from a bank to a building society. But I believe not all ISA providers have the forms you need so you may find a problem there - which is nothing to do with the ISA rules, just an in-house issue.
