Increased Personal Allowance at 65

Can anyone tell me when this is effective from, please?

Is it for the fiscal year in which one attains 65, from the attainment of that age for the remainder of that year, or for the subsequent tax year onwards?

Thanks in advance.

I 'phoned the Revenue who said they wouldn't normally change the code until commencement of the State pension, but I think that my money is better in my hands than theirs so I got them to change it.

Given that my birthday is on the 26 March it couldn't be better.

:-)

In 10 years time you will get another £250 on your personal allowance. Bet you can't wait... ;-) I calculate my tax code each year before they do, as I caught them out in an error a few years ago. Got it all back, of course.
