Ing Direct finally slips behind base rate

Nov 27, 2006 4 Replies

Just got an email telling me that they were 'holding' their interest rate at 4.75% despite BoE base rate going up to 5%. I guess they finally fell off the 'reasonable buys' list.

Whether they think inertia will work, or maybe they don't need the money, who can tell (but I'm off ...)

That's terrible news. I agree - I guess it's time to clear out the account. I remained loyal to ING, but I guess I should have seen the writing on the wall when they gave up on being ahead of the base rate and since then seem to have only just, reluctantly, clung on.

I guess it's back to Egg for me. I never thought I'd have to say that...

Cheers,

Reece

Indeed, what are the best buy on line savings accs at the moment for say £50k plus??

Remove antispam and add 670 after bra to email

Just remember what Egg did not that long ago though. They were the best rates..then gradually dropped and dropped and when they were static at 4.5% when other rates were rising at 4.75% and higher I said bye bye to them too.

I'm leaving ING and off to icesave.co.uk with a 5.45% gross rate
