ING rates

I see ING are putting their rate up to 4.75% gross (4.85% APR) from

1/Aug .. so this time they managed to shave a whole .1%, as well as delay the increase for an 'extra' month after the BoE rate rise in June.

Yep! Glad they wouldn't have me as a customer; been getting 5.5% with Cahoot for nearly 3 weeks now. :-)

X-No-Archive: yes

Only problem with Cahoot is that they pay anuually.

That and the over 50,000 rate reduction are the only negatives I see and whilst I used to look forward to seeing the monthly interest figure I'm old enough to remember when all interest was paid annually. I guess I'll learn to live with it again.

I encouraged a friend to take close to 50,000 out of Ing this morning. Hopefully they will soon learn that we don't like these tricksters and owe them no loyalty whatever.

Presumably the interest is still calculated daily?

What would be the situation if another bank was offering more interest, and in order to transfer into that account, you closed the cahoot account a short period before the annual interest had been credited? Would they credit the interest earned to date?

If not then presumably the smart thing would be to leave it open with just a nominal sum left?

Exactly. ING pay monthly. A hefty deposit with them is about as favourable as annuity rates for non-smoking tee-totallers!

That is my understanding of the case if you close the account

As a matter of interest how much info do the demand to open the account, do they require full salary and employer details and do they require you to send them passports etc?
