International "estate agents"?

Jul 15, 2005 3 Replies

A friend of my inlaws in Portugal has an old dairy[1] she wishes to sell, and since the property market over there is so poor, she's asked me how to sell to somebody in the UK.

I advised her (informally of course!) to find an estate agent in Portugal with a web presence. Have I missed something obvious?

Cheers,

Kenny.

[1] That's a milk processing building, not a book with a page for each day!

There are estate agents over here who specialise in foreign, mainly Spanish, property. One of them may be able to help you.

Yes - there's loads of UK agents who deal in Portuguese property.

Such agents tend to deal with these ghetto developments where there is a bunch of English people in a development for no readily apparent reason. Its rather harder to get one that deals with 'real' (ie second hand properties in the villages integrated into the resident population) properties. There is a magazine called French Property News, or some such, there may be a similar one that covers Europe more generally. Getting such a magazine could be a good starting point.
