ISA interest rate guarantee

Mar 13, 2005 4 Replies

Anybody had a letter from their current cash ISA provider guaranteeing a specific percentage rate above the BoE rate - my current provider (M&S) is reducing their guarantee from 0.50% above base rate to 0.25% above base, which means, come 6th April, they will probaly decrease the current rate they are paying (5.25%) to 5%.

Err, I thought they were 'Guarantee' ing + .5%. Are they reneging on their guarantee?

Nope - the guarantee only applied for a limited period i.e. until 05 April 2005 (it was never an unlimited guarantee) - they are now stating what they will guarantee until 05 April 2006.
