that you have to owe £3k before you can be made bankrupt in Scotland whereas in the rest of the UK you can be bankrupted for owing £750. Surely there is something wrong somewhere; are we the UK or not?


Scotland has retained its own legal system throughout the whole UK experiment. There are differences in many things, including how assets are dealt with on divorce. Being part of the UK doesn't mean everything has to be the same.

The Scottish parliament has also served to highlight some of the differences.

Ah! the canny Scots no doubt have an effective way of dealing with those in the 750 - 3000 pound bracket.

It seems most odd .... that you chose such a stupid subject header.
