Anyone noticed you hardly ever get £2 coins? Are shops not getting them from banks for their float? I always end up with loads of £1 and no £2.

Must be a lot of stupid till operators in Scotland then. I always get four £1 coins instead of two £2 coins.
They'll soon be back in circulation. My daughter recently broke open the ceramic piggy bank in which she has been saving every £2 coin which came into her possession, and took them to her bank. ;-)
A lot of folk do that, that's maybe the problem. And because they do that, they become rare, so more people do it.
I just save the 1,2 and annoying little 5p coins in a jar.
Which reduces the number in circulation, so they make more, then you release them and the situation is worse.
Isn't it about time we made everything cost multiples of 5p or even 10p? Or at least make it illegal to sell something for £x.99.

Or introduce a 99p coin.
Make it pacman shaped. Like a £1 coin with a bit missing. Much like the people who make the prices.
