hi all,

i work in the rail industry for a no. of different agencies and at present get paid through a single person company via

formatting link
i have been thinking recently about setting up my own limited company to maximise my income.

my problem is that one of the companies i work for will not allow this, does anyone know if it would be feasible to stay with gabems for this one agency and use a limited for the others?

cheers james

Yes that is indeed feasible.

Visualise your tax return form .... income from "ownco" and also from "gabemco" ... no problem in that.

But would Gabemco allow it? I can't see them being very happy with only taking a smaller percentage of your invoices. I think that you need to be looking for another source to block out the offending agency. I can't see that it is any skin off their nose that you are working through your own limited company.

I agree it shouldn't, but maybe their thinking is that there's perhaps a bit more security, and less financial risk should John default on any of his contractual obligations, where the principal is gabem, rather than a completely new ltd. company.
