Nationwide customers please read..

In the next few days you will receive a package from Nationwide building society containing the annaul report and accounts. There is also a ballot paper.

Instead of throwing this away i would suggest that you read it closely. Mr Alan Debenham is standing as a nominated member on behalf of all Nationwide customers. He is an independant who has the needs of Nationwides customers at heart. He has stood for election in the past and has received much support but unfortunately Nationwides board of directors dont want him on the board. We can only draw our own conclusions as to why!.

To try and prevent his election, they have structured the ballot papers in such a way as to try and ensure that he doesnt receive many votes!.

Look at your paper carefully. You dont need to vote for 4 directors. You can just put ONE cross next to Mr Debenhams name and leave the rest blank, ensure you sign and date it and post it in good time. While your at it,check the directors remunerations. The chief exec paid himself nearly £1m pounds this year.

I live within a few miles of your suggested candidate and he is a well known local who has zero credibility! I would note vote for him if he was the only candidate!

Completely untrue!

The remuneration committee decided his salary etc. You need to remember that Nationwide is competing for staff against many other organisations and only get the staff if they pay the going rate. Also take a look at the results that look quite good.

Agreed. He's a carpetbagging jerk.

In the 2003 ballot he received 293,410 votes!!

Nationwide state on the ballot paper that you must vote for up to 4 candidates. They then put all their stool pigeons at the top of the paper, put a searation in then slot Debenham in lower down. In the stool pigeons corner there are five contestants. Nationwide have the psychological advantage.

Even major companies in industry dont pay their head man that sort of money.

Amazing how many gullible people there are out there.

Wrong! The form says you may only vote for four not that you must do so.

They then put all their stool pigeons at the top of the

Rubbish! The boad sponsored candidates are separated on the form and this is quite normal practice.

You obviously have not looked very closely at the rates paid by large financial companies then.

Indeed,the chief exec managed 713,000 votes ,,!

Ok i'm relying on memory, ive posted mine. I still maintain that the paper was set out and worded in a way that would discourage voting for the independant candidate.

Why is it? Becuase the system in place causes it to be so. Let them all have equal position and let the electorate decide

Indeed, but arent they piglets voting for the sows' place at the trough, hopefully so that when they grow up,they too can take those places?

I'll take a look then and I'll be back
