Online broker recommendations?

Sep 16, 2003 1 Replies

I'm with an old fashioned broker who looks after my PEP/ISAs - high charges, and he hasn't done a thing for the last 2 years. I went in to see him and he had the temerity to smile and say "Benign neglect"!

So.. I need a replacement. I tried comdirect but they don't seem to have their act together on PEP/ISA transfers. Looks as if they can cope with a straightforward transfer of one or the other from a large broker, but to transfer the entire portfolio in one go from a small house is beyond them.

Any other recommendations? I am happy to manage the portfolio myself and am interested in low charges.

Thanks

Tim

What appealed to me most was that they have low charges (9.50 per transaction) and they don't charge any extra if you want certificates. As I like the idea of owning the shares that I buy, rather than the broker owning them, I would recommend them as an execution only online broker on this basis. I haven't dealt since July so I've just had a quick look at the site and it's not clear whether they still offer 9.50 certificated trades, but it's worth emailing them to see.
