The original poster has lost the ability to download a mortgage loan account, and wonders why he cannot "reactivate" the account (for downloading).

Everything about downloading loan accounts seems to be beyond, not only Quicken's ability to explain, but beyond the ability of Community SuperUsers to explain. [For SuperUsers I suspect the reason is that they know there is virtually no benefit to downloading loan accounts, so they have never tried to download one.]

The truth about online-enabled loan accounts, while probably not what most users want to hear, is simple and straightforward.

1.) Quicken loan accounts that are activated for downloading will not offer the user ANY ability to control their contents. Nor can user look directly at the Quicken account register for online-enabled loan accounts. Quicken requires complete control of such accounts in order to insure they remain as accurate as possible. 2a.) Online-enabled loan accounts can be "deactivated" for downloading, but they can NEVER be re-activated for downloading. 2b.) It is also impossible to link downloaded loan account transactions to ANY existing Quicken account. 3.) Contrary to the often made claim that users are prevented from seeing the "transactions" (plural), in online-enabled loan accounts: 3a.) There is never more than one transaction (singular) in a Quicken online-enabled loan account. 3b.) The single "transaction" in an online-enabled loan account is always simply the balance of the account as of the most recent download. 3c.) The ONLY transaction in a Quicken online-enabled loan account can be seen in at least one Quicken report (and probably any Quicken report that displays transactions). A Quicken Banking > Transaction report which includes the online-enabled loan account will show the single online-enabled loan account "transaction".

Given the characteristics of Quicken online-enabled loan accounts noted above: there is no reason to be concerned about not being able to re-activate downloading to such an account.

The original loan account can be deleted and a new online loan account created. When the new account is successfully created, it will show the "current" loan account balance ... a balance just as current, and just as correct, as the account balance would have been if the original loan account had neve lost its ability to download. {It's always a good idea to backup before taking such actions.]
