deactivate online services

How do I deactivate an online service? I keep getting the following message: The Online Update Summary will show this error until you connect successfully or deactivate online services for the account. I'm using Quicken 2003 Deluxe TIA

I'm not familiar with that particular message, but I have seen that online services can not be deactivated when Quicken "feels" there is some kind of problem (for me Quicken thought there were downloaded transactions but nothing showed up and Quicken wanted me to accept or delete these invisible transactions before deactivating the online services). Unfortunately, when there are problems, you might be most eager to deactivate.

What I finally did was to move the .QEL file (so Quicken could not find it when starting). Quicken then lost all online information (IIRC) and I could enable online access again and get downloads working. It is a bit of work, but got things working again. Of course, making a backup first is a good idea.

It sure would be nice if Intuit made it possible to force a deactivation when there are problems. You might also try holding "Control", "Alt", "Shift" keys while pressing "Deactivate". Sometimes Intuit uses them to all you to force a particular operation. I have not tried this.

For Q2005D (perhaps the same route can be taken?) - In ACCOUNTS view, highlight the one in question. Select EDIT. Select ONLINE SERVICES tab. Select DEACTIVATE button on the transactions download selection.

Thanks. I've been trying to do that, also.
