Quicken 2007 - can not use one step update for my Chase acct

Sep 13, 2007 4 Replies

For the last month or so when I do a one step update all my accounts will get updated except my Chase credit card. The error message has been (and I am paraphrasing) that Chase and the Quicken server could not connect. To fix this I deactivated online services for the account and then did a download from Chase's website. This worked but I can still NOT add Chase to one step update. It now says that the Chase server does not recognize the user ID or password.

Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

TIA

Have you read any of the other recent posts on this topic? It happened to me again this morning. All I did was go into the individual Chase account and do an online update from there. That worked just fine. No need to deactivate/reactivate.

Mark:

It sounds like you only have one Chase credit card. I know that in my situation deactivate/reactivate is the only method that worked.

I have 3 business cards under a business login, and 5 personal cards under personal login. All failed middle of last week. I waited till the weekend to troubleshoot.

I could not update individual cards, in fact, deactivate/reactivate an individual card also did not work. I had to de/re ALL cards under a login to resuscitate One Step Update.

I was also getting the "not recognize" error messages.

So, what I would suggest, is deactivate again. DON'T go to the Chase web site, but set up Direct Connect inside Quicken.

Good luck! Bob

Bob - I assume that by Quicken Direct Connect you mean to add to one step update? And I do this by again deactivating the account and reactivating it w/in Quicken? And yes this is one chase credit card.

SORRY ALL for missing earlier posts - I did look.

Mark:

One Step Update just refreshes all your Direct Connect and Express Web Connect accounts, that you choose, in one pass. IOW, you can use Direct Connect, but choose not to add a specific account to One Step Update.

I used to have problems with Quicken crashing when too many accounts are included in a One Step, or Scheduled Update. It appears around Q2007 R3 or so, I was able to choose to update ALL my accounts without crashing.

So, yes, enable Direct Connect for your one Chase credit card, by deactivate/reactivate. Then, you can decide if you want to include that account with your scheduled Updates, or in a One Step Update.

But, as Guy pointed out, there may be other issues with Chase's web site. So, call Chase if deactivate/reactivate doesn't work for you.
