I saw an "article" concerning endowment shortfalls which referred readers to the web page

Thinking that .org is for non-profit making organisations I thought I would get some independent advice so I looked at the web page.

Only after going through various parts did I see that they would charge 20% an a no-win no-fee basis to "help" you - NOT a not for profit organisation.

Is this allowed/legal? - and is it worth using such people?

Back in the mists of time, that's what .org (and .org.uk) was, yes. But now, the whole thing's been liberalised -- I was less than pleased about it, but hey-ho -- and anyone can register any .org.uk or .co.uk. There are commonsense restrictions on .ltd.uk and .plc.uk.

If you're asking if it's allowed for a .org.uk domain -- yes.

If you're asking if it's legal in the wider sense ... that's for m'learned friends in the Other Place to ruminate upon, but my guess would also be yes.
