PHI (Income Replacement Insurance)

I'd be interested to hear any comments people here might want to make about PHI providers. I've had a policy with (what's now) Norwich Union for a few years, and I'd like to increase my cover. The new policy they've quoted me for has more loopholes and is more vague than the old.

Any providers particularly good/bad?

Any happy stories? Horror stories?

Search the archives as it comes up from time to time. I see that you've taken time to examine the criteria - that's the key.

I use an old Permanent Insurance product which was part of Equitable Life and is now Liverpool Victoria. It was best for me at the time.

Probably because the criteria can vary so much it's very much a personal decision and not many people have experience of claiming under one. Being happy with the cover & price (as I am with my'n) is one thing, being happy with how they handle a claim is a different matter !

The newspapers money sections sometime contain case studies when they write article about this, although because reporters are lazy, they get the insurance companies to give them case studies.

Such as ? I've had the opposite experience.
