Post Office Euro rate?

For an imminent purchase of £600 of euros I thought that this time I'd buy online, instead of extracting the cash from my bank and then buying at my local Post Office. But the choice of supplier seems more complex than I'd expected, mainly because of card charges. Even most debit cards don't escape. Another factor is that I need delivery in 3 days max, including today and Saturday, and that could involve an extra charge. So I'm probably going to revert to the Post office.

But is there any way to find the current High Street Post Office rate? The automated phone service at 0845 722 3344 didn't include it. Nor could I see it on the web site (only the ONLINE price, today 1.1650).

bottom right of page. I use TravelFX who are v.good but you have to set up your bank account to fast payment to their account and avoid ordering on a Friday. You wont get the cash until the following tuesday. Im a bit edgy following the Crown Currency saga!!

Thanks, but as I said that's for ONLINE ordering.

To get the High Street rate this morning, I had to go to the Post Office. It was 1.120, significantly less than the online rate. In fact, surprisingly, it was even lower than my bank (NatWest) and Thomas Cook up the road.

If you need Euros on a regular basis, by far the best way is to get a pre-paid Euro card, like the FairFx card:

You top it up at the going rate, currently 1.1740, no commission, but you choose your own time to do it, then withdraw Euros through any cash machine when abroad, paying ?1.50 per withdrawal regardless of amount withdrawn.

That'll probably take more than 3 days to arrive though.

has lots more options, including a price comparison for delivery/collection providers. Think they have PO rates for collection, too.
