Promoted to director.

Well Okay not really propmoted but we are contemplating going limited and if so I will be offered directorship. Is there a site that can tell me what benefits and consequences may or may not arise as a director. Or is it as I see just another job title. Any advice or links to sites appreciated.

The responsibilities can be compared to working as a partner (they are generally less for a director). There's lots of info on

and if you search google for uk director responsibility you'll find other sites.

Lots of personal liabilities primarily (health & safety, software piracy, corporate insolvency, accounts being filed on time to name a few) PLUS any non-compete clauses may actually be worth the paper they're written on for directors. Bonuses back I can't actually think of any worth having anymore.

used to have a few nice documents on this, but they seem not to be available on their website. (I may be thinking of the IoD instead)

Directors run the company, shareholders own the company, shareholders appoint the directors. Are you currently in a partnership?

Don't embarrass him by asking about his sex life.
