I have a rather dodgy Barclays cheque (and may have some more over the next few weeks) which I wish to bank, I am party to the relevant balance info on the drawers account but I bank with HSBC and Natwest.
If I can bank the cheque at the account holding branch when I know the money is in the account it will clear out of the drawers account the same day whereas if I do it at my bank it will take 3 days to turn up by which time there might not be enough money again.
As I see it I have 3 options to avoid the 3 day clearing wait
1) go into Barclays with a stack of ID and try and cash the cheque and walk to my bank with a wad of cash2) take my HSBC or Natwest paying in book in let the paying in slip go through the clearing system having checked the cheque will clear out of the drawers account the same day like it would if it was into another Barclays account
3) go into Barclays with a pile of ID and open a basic account to pay the money into (not sure how long this would take though to setup)I have no idea about what Barclays may try to charge me for options 1 and 2 or what my own bank might charge for 2.
Your comment or suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards
Chris
