Can anyone with a long enough memory help me with Purchase Tax in the pre VAT days. I am trying to track down the last Finance Act? that dealt with Purchase Tax. I think the Finance Act 1972 dealt with VAT, so I am guessing that I am looking for a Finance Act in the 1960's.

Purchase tax used to be 'messed about with' in just about every 'post war' budget.
It used to go up and down on items which were considered 'luxury goods', and things like wallpaper were sometimes taxed and sometimes not.
