Anthony Hilton, London Evening Standard: simply the best - no question.
Sam Brittan, FT: not far behind.
David Smith, Sunday Times: great writer, read him every week, but he tends to go on a bit about interest rates, and in particular why they should be lower, lower, lower.
Larry Elliott, Guardian: also simply the best (can I have more than one?)
William Keegan, Observer: crashing bore, nothing to say takes too many words to say it. Rerirement beckons.
Hamish McRae and Jeremy Warner, Independent: excellent writers, but Warner is way too right-wing for my taste and should transfer to ............
Daily Telegraph: don't know who they have these days, but it should be Jeremy Warner.
Any more contenders?
