Re: The Real Truth About Scotsmen!

Hark! Hark! There is thus the pot calling the kettle black me thinks.

Dare I ask what "RRPITA" stands for? Or shall I rue the day I asked in this way?

Oooh! Thats rather cute! I like that actually...I hope you don't mind if I borrow that, I'll send that to a few who will find that rather amusing! Actually I rather like that poem myself.

Well, there is nothing wrong with fishing, it is a noble sport, it brings out the "hunter gatherer" instinct in a purely british kind of way.

Ohhh the wonders of hindsight...

It's much easier that way for all concerned. Oh, I know, you're concerned about your

Well I won't go there for the moment.

Suffice it to say that the RR part stands for "right royal". The rest is left as an exercise. You could replace the A with B if you want to give it an American slant.

There is nothing noble about telemarketing.

I ask them to explain exactly who they are, and to tell me what the purpose of their call is.

Then keep firing questions at them until they realise they aren't going to get anywhere with me.

Well to be honest, I don't know them that well, and I only agreed to a small pilot scheme, its paid on commision only, and I really am seeking paid hourly work..

I think that's very curious, you seem to be claiming that you are the best salesman in the universe and yet you want to be paid hourly rather than solely on commision (sic).

If you read my posts, you would not find it at all curious! The point is I am starting a "NEW" business, this is "NEW" to me in an effort to creat a SOLD, FINANCIAL, BASIS, so I can move forward with my long term business. I need to earn money! So therefore rather than sitting around waiting to get commission work, I prefer hourly work.

So why is that so curious? eh?

If I do a days work, I wish to get a days pay...what is curious about that? If you phone up any telesales company int he phone book, they will charge an hourly rate! What is curious about that?

You should know that most sales people do work on a basic rate plus commission, but I am not setting up business as a "self employed sales person".

I am offering "telemarketing services" ok..which means sitting ont he phone and calling up whoever my client wants me to do...now supposing that client has a rubbish product or rubbish business.?

Have you any idea how many rubbish business ideas their are out there, and how many clients I would get if I was willing ot just work on a "for commission" basis only......there are all those MLM products trying to sell herbal life or whatever, etc.etc.etc.....

Could it be because one minute you have an established business selling reproduction furniture, the next minute you have lots of businesses, the next minute you are looking at starting a new business?

Based on the assumption that you are experienced in whatever field it eventually turns out to be I would expect commission only to be quite plausible and common.

No, there again, you only half read things, you will see I have a "dormant" factory in Eastenr Europe. You are making comments on things you half read about..

I am seeking to set up some different businesses, which are different than my wooden products factory, because it is now international, it means that I am seeking alternative revenue sources...that I am generating myself.

You are assuming wrongly again....

"telemarketing" is not a field its a job...are you seriously saying you think that telemarketing is a "career field"? It is not necessary to have a background in selling to be a good telesales person, look at all the students who become telesales people in their holidays for example.

You said it was "curious" that I wanted an hourly payment, and not wanted an "entire commision for payment" .

I already explained that your assumption is wrong. Most telesales companies charge per hour...especially if it is a new business relationship..

I asked you already don't you think it would open up the door to any old tom dick and harry with any MLM scheme, if people just offered commission services you then get untested products being offered. but you did'nt reply to this ...

What would you say that group instinct is then if it is not primordial, I call it instinct/primordial genetic heritage/.

Yes, absolutely true, trust will count for everything..I totally agree, it is the most valuable asset any business can have that is behind a brand.

No I am not a Scot, my experience is based on interaction with Scots over the years, they can be dour as well, hardworking, very hardworking types, but really I consider myself good at understanding the differences in culture/peoples..and the scots are tough and hearty and I believe have this "clannish" quality that still values honor and honesty in perhaps situations where others would not have such store of this quality.

I know it is not politically correct to differentiate between people..but if we where to turn the clock back 50 years, people would definitely say that different countries have different temperaments/natures/attributes.....and in fact although it is politically correct to assume that all peoples are generally all the same, the problem with that is all modern economics are built on the theory that countries are different and are good at different things!

So I don't think our genes change in fifty years..

This is all just my opinion.

If you don't need what I sell then without a doubt I could'nt and would'nt attempt to sell it, I was really assuming if I had a product you needed.
