Secure Loan on Half owned house with no mortgage

Hi, I half own my mothers home after my brother and myself bought it cheap from the local council. My mothers is a 'sitting tenant' and there is no mortgage on the property. I require a secure loan on the property but am unsure if I could apply for one as I don't live at the house but live with my partner, who is in full time employment (I don't currently work). I would like to do this without my brother knowing my financal predicament at home. So my question really is, can i apply for a secure loan against the house with my partner, without getting my brother involved?

Any advice gratefully recieved.

TIA Phil

As I am not working, is there no chance anyone would take into account my partners income to pay the repayments?

I thought that would be the answer!!!! I just don't want go and see him with my begging bowl out to ask if he would do this with me (Assuming I could even get one, as he lives in the channal islands and I live here in the U.K)

If she would be willing to act as guarantrix, it's a possibility, but it's remote. In any case, you mentioned a "financial predicament". Is it not likely that shortage of income brought it about? How then will further reducing your income, by adding to your outgoings (loan interest and repayments) make things better? You need more income, not less.

Without wanting to sound callous, would it not be a better option for you to get "on your bike" and find a job?

So you'd rather put your partner through the misery of a lowered standard of living for quite some time (a year? three?) than swallow your pride and admit your woes to your brother? If he's in the CI he must be loaded. Surely he'll be happy to help. Perhaps he can even buy part of your half of mum's house off you? Or give you an interest free loan "secured" by blood honour against your half? Either way it would probably not do to let mum get wind of any of this.

why doesnt your partner get the loan, since it would be them making the repayments anyway?

as Ronald says, how about if your brother bought your half of the house from you?
