Short Term Savings

Sep 04, 2006 1 Replies

I borrowed some money on my mortgage for some building work. Due to a hitch at the council, my building warrant could be as much as 3-6 months away. I have just under £20k, in a bog standard current account. I know in the run up to xmas I will dip into it. To avoid this, can anyone recommend a good savings account with maybe a 14 day notice period that pays a good rate of interest.

Cheers

No, but you can get reasonable interest rates on "instant" access accounts such as ING or HBOS websaver. Tell you what. Give it to me and I'll look after it for you. I promise I won't give you any of it back until after Christmas. Of course I'll give you all the interest I'll earn, but a wee bottle of nice malt would be appreciated for my trouble.

Can't you pay it back to the mortgage lender and get it out again later?
