T-Bonds for credit line

Oct 23, 2010 4 Replies

Hi All,

I am looking for a solution to get credit line against T-Bonds. Verifyable at Bloomberg. I can manage the access to Bloomberg's screen during verification.US treasury bonds are AAA rated, but some banks wouldn't take a risk to issue a bank guarantee or L/C against that. What is the solution, than? I appreciate any help.

Deposit the treasuries as collateral into a broker's margin account.

Tony,

My client informed me, that the securities are corporate bonds, but asset backed. Assets are: the T-Bonds. this may look complicated. Corporate bonds are AA rated. Can I do the same thing with them as in a simple T-Bonds case? If yes, can you please suggest a broker company, where I can deposit these bonds? The value is high.

Thanks in advance,

Csaba

The question is whether those securities are marginable, a decision that is governed in the USA by the Federal Reserve Board. Your client should approach his broker who will quickly confirm whether they are suitable and acceptable.
