Tax Implications for Setting Up A Website

HI, I am wondering if anyone knows or can point me to some information for the following situation:

-Bob wants to set up a website which provides information and sales links (ads) to the Spain market

-He currently lives in the UK and is resident for over 10 years

-Bob has a dual citizenship - US + Spanish passport

What are some issues he should consider? For example, for tax purposes, would he

-Be better setting up a US based website (lower business tax in US) and business?

-Need to set up a UK based business if he is resident in the UK as owner of the website (even if hosted in the US?)

-Need to set up an Spanish website and register this as a business in Spain in order to trade?

Also, are there other options to consider?

Thank you

Jack

You are confusing 'business' and 'website'. You can't register a website as a business, any more than you could register an advert in a newspaper as a business.

You don't have a choice. If you are resident in the UK, that is where the income from your website is taxed.

But as a non-dom it's important to consider where his income originates?

(I really don't know where that is)

Speak to an accountant or other person likely to have the right answers.

Thanks All I will try to speak with an accountant I thought it might be what Jonathan suggested above. As he is resident in the UK, any business activities should be taxed in UK.

He is domiciled in the US. The income would originate from spain as that's where the ads are run on the site and where the products would be sold--that being said, I'm not sure of the advertiser/product company location. Cheers Jack
