Tax refund

Hi,

I paid too much income tax (PAYE) in 2003/4 How long do I have to reclaim this tax, and how do I do it?

I have also discovered that I was not entitled to some of the income I received in that year, and I will have to pay it back. Does that affect the amount of taxable income I received in that year?

TIA

Ermm...how about phoning your tax office (get their phone number from your employer) and asking them to issue a refund. Unless is it a large sum you will in any case be "refunded" by an adjustment to your tax code.

No AFAIK it will affect the taxable income you receive in *this* year.

No you won't. Tax refunds are never dealt with through Coding Notices; only tax owing is (if less than £2000).
