Does anyone still look at the newsgroup 'uk.business.payroll'?
There is someone over there now, trying to have it removed from the internet ... so if anyone is interested in preserving it, get over there now and air your views!

It's been taken over by spammers.

Peter, all the activity at the moment is because the "powers that be" are trying to remove it. Really - if you still want it to stay, you need to get over there and air your views!
No. I get enough spam in my own inbox.
I think it should be killed off as well.
I think payroll discussions could be in this group.

But doesn't it actually get *less* spam than either of 'uk.business.accountancy', or 'uk.finance'?
No.
It's not needed. I just serves to reflect traffic from here, and anyone who posts to it will wait a day for an answer and then go elsewhere. We're better off without it.
Let us know when it's voted on so I can vote for the removal.

As an accountancy layman I never even considered that there would be a separate newsgroup for payroll, I assumed uk.business.accountancy covered everything. I asked my questions on uba and received speedy, accurate answers.

Eh?
sorry if the question is too difficult for you.
Nothing to discuss AFAIC.
