VAT on UK flights

Was there any mention of introducing this in the budget?

I heard a bloke in the barbers talking about it whilst I was waiting my turn, but could find no trace in the reports...

One might argue that if VAT is applicable to mundane stuff like firelighters or chinese takeaways then it should certainly be applied to airline travel.

But then it should also be applied to newspapers.........but it hasn't and never will be.

Guess why?

No. They are going to consult on a per-plane duty to replace passenger duty, but no VAT. Public transport is still VAT free.
