What expenses can be claimed by a contractor?

I am working as a contractor and fall within IR35. Part of the support and services are provided from home, where my company is registered. What expenses would my I be allowed to claim? I can perhaps claim a proportion for electric, gas, telephone and water. I wanted to know if I would be allowed to claim a proportion of the Interest I pay for the mortgage as I feel if I did this then I would be liable for CGT in the future?

Is there any information about this on the Inland Revenue Site?

I'm in much the same position, although not IR35. I was advised by my accountant that I could claim an allowance for "use of home as office", and that 10 GBP weekly should be acceptable to the IR. This approach should not give rise to CGT or other liability on the house in future.

...which means you are in a completely different position...

"Use of home as office" is not an allowable expense when computing schedule E liability so it would seem to be covered by the 5%:

In respect of what's covered in the "5%", yes, but not in respect of the CGT liability, which is what he explicitly asked about.

FWIW as Jon Griffey has pointed out in the other thread, I'm wrong, Use of Home can now be allowable against Sch E liability:
