I miss the old switch and solo, understand they have all been transferred over to Maestro, but all my cards that were formally switch and solos have been turned into Visa electrons, which banks still over Maestro cards? I find the visa electrons are not accepted in the shops I chose to use.

Switch has become Maestro but it still works in the same way - only the name has changed. Maestro is accepted at all the places that Switch was in the UK and all the places abroad where Maestro has been established for years.
Solo still exists and isn't affected by the switch the Maestro.
You can get Maestro and Solo cards from NatWest, HSBC, First Direct and Yorkshire Bank in England/Wales.
Royal Bank of Scotland and Clydesdale Bank in Scotland.
Ulster Bank, Northern Bank and Bank of Ireland in Northern Ireland.
Full list of the banks are available on the website

I have Maestro and Solo cards from NatWest and never have problems using them.
