Which Credit Cards allow you to check spending online?

Are there any credit cards which will be able to check my spending online, for the current month. Not just past statements, but current ones, so i can keep track of how much I have spent in the current billing month. One that also sends out printed statements preferably as standard and no extra cost. Am not bothered about rates, transfers etc as I always pay it off in full each month.

Both A&L Visa and Nationwide Visa list current transactions not yet on statement. Both take several days for a transaction to appear online, though. And both send paper statements in addition FOC.

Barclaycard (although not the darling of the market most of the time and especially not now!) have an half-decent online service that, amongst other things, allows you to view transactions in current period (before you get statement at the end of the month) and send hardcopy monthly.

Barclaycard also permit you to pay online by debit card. Unfortunately, they do not allow you to set up a DD to pay off the minimum or total charge automagically. Cahoot, which has a much lower interest rate, does allow you to set up such a DD, which relieves you of the responsibility of remembering to do it - though you must have sufficient funds in your current account, of course. At least with Barclaycard, any transaction is often visible on the web by the time you get home from the shops? Cahoot do not send hard copy statements unless requested and there is a charge.

Cahoot (current account) pay 3.y% on credit balances and also allow you an interest free overdraft of £250, in addition to a penalty free overdraft decided by whom I do not recall. I've often wondered what would happen to one's credit rating if one made continuous use of the interest free £250, keeping the money in their savings account at 3.8%.

Morgan Stanley, and you can also pay them online with a debit card. Also sends statements and gives cash back.

Lloyds-TSB include their credit cards in the "List accounts" section of their Internet banking site. You can also view details of the last statement and the current transactions.

They have the best web interface i have seen by far, as they also update your "avaliable credit" in realtime - handy when you rent a car and they put a "hold" on 500, which you would not see on any other CC web interfaces I have used. Pity about the cashback being reduced to a pathetic 0.5% when others give 2% otherwise I'd have stuck with 'em.

Oh, and don't forget the Halifax. You can do almost anything on their site. Just try not to forget your sign-in details - three tries (cummulative) and you're onto the telephone (actually, its not clear what you're onto since a recent alteration). 0% transfer and purchases offer at present on new CC. Their monthly saver is a winner, for now .

I don't think this is correct. My Barclaycard is paid by Direct Debit.

Yeah, but don't send out paper statement as the OP prefers.

Barclaycard do let you set up a Direct Debit, as I have one at the moment.

Details on the back of every bill you get.

So you can. I cannot find it mentioned on the web site, however. My apologies.

Not true - contact Barclaycard by phone, through secure weblink or post and they will send a DD mandate for minimum/full balance. Get your facts straight.

I haven't seen anyone giving 2%, apart from Barclaycard, which doesn't count.

AMEX Blue (with 1% cashback) Posting from Peter Rogers

Amex blue does 2% for 3 months then reverts to 1%, but it gives you a chance to build up a decent cashback bonus pretty fast which I like.

I was worried about places not accepting it, but have not had too many problems so far, the exception being a small independant hotel who proudly displayed the amex logo on their counter yet had the downright cheek to ask me if I could pay using visa or mastercard!

I told him (ie fibbed) yes I *did* have a mastercard but there was not much credit left on it so was keeping what little credit I had left in case I get caught short at some petrol station that does not take my amex at all, which is probably quite a risk considering I was in the highlands of scotland at the time. I thought better of telling him that I get double cashback!
