Which currencies linked to Sterling

Gibraltar, Falkland Islands, South Georgia, British Antarctic Territory, St. Helena, and Ascension Island.

Mmmmm. Spoilt for choice then.

I've been to Gib, so I still have a few options:-) How are we doing against the Aussie Dollar and the Carribean currencies? This time last year we were in Florida with out two Dollar Pounds. Derek

You missed out Rockall.

Caribbean currencies tend to be tied to the US $ (East Caribbean $, Barbados $, and perhaps T&T $ that I know of).

French islands I think use the ? (Euro).

Ascension island - you can't go there without a reason and permission. British Antarctic Territory - I think the same? St Helena - short boat trip from Cape Town or Cardif, no airport! Falkland Island - via South America. Gib is easy these days. You forgot Tristan Da Cunha - although that, Ascension and St Helena are all part of St Helena - must be the biggest country in the world measuring from one end to the other. Not too difficult to rent a boat out of Cape Town.

Well, good old Wikipedia says this about Ascension Island:

"In order to enter Ascension Island, people need the written permission of the Administrator. There is no permanent residence. A contract of employment is a requirement to stay on the island, though short term visits by tourists are possible with prior approval. The UK government has asserted that no inhabitant of Ascension Island has a right to abode".

I would have thought that the lack of a way to get there except on an RAF plane or your own yacht would somewhat limit visitors.

Rockall is part of Scotland. It doesn't have its own currency.

Or you go from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.

The Australian Dollar is broadly in the same place vs the pound as last year, though lower than two years ago.

The South African Rand is also pretty much the same vs the pound, but I believe inflation is higher there, so it may not be particularly cheap.

Carribean currencies generally track the US Dollar.

And there is a police station near the steps (jetty????).

If you can get onto the steps, it is not easy.
