Will the US economy crash taking Britain's with it ? Greenspan's record under attack again.

I'm not blaming you for anything, hummy. You make an assertion on a newsgroup and there's no law which says you have to back it up with evidence. But until you do, I'll doubt what you say, that's all.

I think interest rates ought to be irrelevant, though they're a great incentive in the medium to long term. The whole point of "traditional" (as opposed to investment) saving isn't to earn interest, it's to buy security and flexibility, and -- perhaps just as importantly -- to avoid having to pay interest to someone else if you need to part with unplanned money.

Ok, if growth is the main aim then the money might be better off invested somewhere else (like the property bubble). But then you have to factor in more complex risks than mere inflation; risks which most people aren't really qualified to weigh up sensibly.

Not that it stops them.

The cars are on HP and the christmas puddings are on the credit card.

When the man comes round with the baseball bat to request payment, there will be problems ahead.

doesn't stop you eating them....doesn't stop the cars from starting of a morning...

could be....but mostly if you don't borrow from the mafia it'll be little more than a few cross words and your credit cards removed for a while... the number even going that far is a very small %age....

industry can't sell puddings to people who can't pay.... if they can't sell puddings they can't buy their jags....

perhaps you have more in mind than you are saying...

Another insane outburst by you lardy after looking the mirror. We ought to devise a scoring system to rate each of them... At this rate they'll become the main attraction on ukpm.

Here's your starter for 10: How many times have you thrown abuse, then run away and hidden when OPs present you with facts which distress you or shatter your flummery, blustering, bold lies and rank dishonesty?

Is it 10 or 20, 30 maybe? 40, 50?

You are a dork with an inflated opinion of yourself and a huge ego. But in reality what are you? a mediocre kiddy teacher. Enough said.

You know all about hypocrisy but you can't hide it from me dumpty. You're a dork; it's obvious.

I have nothing to apologise for dear. It is a sign of your ignorance and arrogance that you should even consider it necessary. By contrast if you apologised for all the blatant lies and flummery you've posted, it would overload usenet!!!

But you've never taxed me before with hypocrisy that I can remember. It took somebody else to point it out (even though he knows it had a point).

But while we're on the topic, I'd hazard you might learn to recognise your own tendency to fabulate if you could spot it in others first. To help you in this direction, how about we put a few useful clues as to how badly we've behaved at the bottom of our posts, so you could read them then go "ahah!, so that was hypocrisy!".

And after a time, you'd learn to recognise our sins, and start to wonder if you mightn't have something similar.

Good idea, no? For example, I could end this post by saying:

"Taking the piss out of hummy".

You'd get to the bottom, and go "Aha!... so that was hyp-

...oh"

Unlike several posters on ukpm, I accept that I have faults (lying is not one of them) but only point out the faults in others in response when they start picking holes and try to adopt the high ground. No names mentioned but I think you know who I'm referring to.

On top of that, I get bored occasionally and like to wind someone up! Usenet is not the best tool to convey a humorous frame of mind.

Correct.

What I've read over 1-2 years as previously stated. This debate could get very circular if you don't get a grip dumpty.

Blather.

~Correct. But not "like billy-o" as you asserted elsewhere. Somehow I think you're sinking in your own mud dumpty and doing a lardy: implying that I made a statement which I didn't actually make and then claiming it was wrong! Dishonest or what?

Are yer? Well never mind, when you grow up and become a big girl's blouse, people will take you more seriously.

Irrelevant? Methinks not. You've snipped the bit where I gave you a quote which you asked for and some other links. Clearly, you're wasting my time. Go debate with lardy.
