Except they just wrote to me saying that from end of July you can no longer cash a cheque at post office - have to use your pin number and the debit card. PITA. I guess they got bored with you having the money 3 days before they debited your account.

But there's an advantage the other way round. You don't have to wait 3 or 4 days for Cash lodged to appear in your account (and thus earn interest). Cash lodgements are also to be dealt with in this way and will appear on your account instantly.
