In California that is consistent with my observations. I've run across governmental entities where the accounting, personnel, and business management functions are 100% female. I attribute it to the fantastic success of the State's post proposition 209 Affirmative Action program.

Look: many wealthy restaurteurs and great chefs started out as busboys at el cheapo restaurants. Finding some great chefs and restauranteurs on google who started as busboys does not make being a busboy a great job. If being a busboy is such a great job, why did they switch careers to become chefs?
You prove my point: accounting is something you work to get promoted OUT of. Not something you want as a lifelong career.

Funny, but a majority of the female accountants I know married engineers, including myself. I've begun to think that these two professions are actualy drawn to each other for some reason.
Where intelligence is concerned, opposites do not attract.

Why do you assume that accountants cannot do analysis? Anybody who can wend their way through the US tax law has a unique flavor of analytic ability. I'm only familiar with individual and estate tax law. I can't imagine the foibles of corporate tax law.

this occurs because: a) the female engineer is naive about money and believes -- incorrectly -- that accountants must be rich since they count money all day; b) the male accountant wants to marry somebody outside of accounting because he can't stand the thought of coming home to an accounant every day!

Correction! You were born an asshole and remain one to this day. Just because you slept through a few courses in engineering does not make you an engineer. Given that you are about as technically inept as they come, I suggest that you contact the institution that "gave" you an engineering degree and ask for a refund.
