Entering the Accounting Field - Canada

Could anyone direct me to what they consider the ideal school for this situation.

Full time position right now, but is expecting to be downsized in the next couple of months.

Planning on upgrading my education, presently have a business degree.

I can't attend school full time yet, so I am looking for a good school in which to start my studies with the goal of becoming an accountant (CA)

Is there any schools that offer courses via correspondence study?

Thanks to all that respond,

JP

If you want a CGA the path is all laid out at the link below.

Click on the box to the left with text "Think CGA".

Yes, there is correspondence study available and with your university degree you are already well down the path.

Are you stuck on being a CA? Why not look into CGA or CMA designations? Check out the national sites:

Their education requirements are on the sites, and they will lead you to the provincial sites from the federal ones.

As a baccalaureate in business, you will probably be able to enter both programs with advanced standing into the third level (best guess) and you won't have to go to the trouble of meeting the degree requirement after the fact (like me).

In all provinces CGAs and CMAs are equal to CAs, except Ontario, which is currently in process of changing that. Therefore, the need to BE a CA in order to sign off on audits, except in Ontario, is a moot point. Many employers prefer CGAs or CMAs....
