Invoicing Software Suggestion Required

Hello

I need to identify invoicing software which will allow me to customise (to an extent) the invoice layout.

The invoice must have the following header fields :

Invoice Address, Delivery Address, Invoice Number, Date Of Invoice, Your Order Number, Delivery Note

Each invoice item line must have :

Part Number (or similar), Part Description, Quantity, Unit (ie. each, pair, etc), Unit Price, Item Discount, Amount

The footer information must allow for :

Net Amount, Delivery Charge, VAT (im in the UK), Gross Amount

Is there any software which will do this ?

Thanks Jonathan

Every piece of accounting software I've run across in the US does this, so I don't think you should have any problem finding it in the UK. Depending on the size of your company, Sage has some nice choice, Microsoft and Quickbooks also have small to small/medium that should work. I've not seen any stand-alone invoicing software. It wouldn't make sense to me.

I've seen several stand-alone invoicing, billing and A/R software that meets aall the needs above. It has US sales tax instead of VAT, but isn't the concept the same?

You can check with some of your competitors to see what they use, ask your suppliers what they use, do a Google search, etc until you have made a selection. I would think that there is some good software out there for under $100US.

Sales tax is "the same" concept as VAT *only* if you consider the sales function in isolation from purchases and expenses - which is apparently what is required.

Some software (QuickBooks, Quicken, for example) does not permit printing per-line discounts as specified.

As long as it's a function of sales, ie: percentage, then almost any billing software can handle it. Most basic software can have different tax rates for different items in your inventory.

Okay. I had been under the impression that you could use categories for that.

You can, at least in QB06. You can also apply discounts to certain clients/customers.

I apologize if I've given bad advice on this topic - but I think I must be missing something.

I thought OP requires the ability to display and print, for each item on an invoice, the base price, discount, and net price (as well as the usual qty and item description), with different discounts for each item. I cannot see how that can be done in any Canadian version of QB. Perhaps the Canadian versions are more significantly different from US versions than I realized. I also do not find the use of "categories" in Canadian QB.

A very brief explanation, please?

I would check out MY DELUXE INVOICES AND ESTIMATES. Usually available from office supply houses. This software has been around for sometime in many generations. From a billing perspective it is pretty darn good. It is $39.95 USD.
