Peachtree & crystal reports

All,

I'm going to update some reports for an accounting shop that lost it's Crystal guru. Can anyone tell me how difficult the new version is to use to edit existing reports or create new reports? Would a book be a good idea and any suggested titles? The Peachtree documentation doesn't contain anything on Crystal, and I can't find any freeley available guides. I've used Crystal a about 10 years ago and a few other report tools since then.

Thanks for any help.

I used to do a lot of Peachtree Crystal Work. Your basic Crystal Reports book would serve you well. The only real difference between the OEM version bundled with Peachtree, and the regular version, is that there are some built in functions. If it has beene 10 years since you have used Crystal, you will find it vastly changed - for the better. You will also need to know about the data structure: look under DDF so you can find out where the data is stored. In Crystal there will be a list of tables; but alot of the information in Peachtree tables is "compact". For instance, the information for vendor and customer transactions exist in the same table - with a switch that denotes which is which. The Peachtree help on DDF I have always found very helpful.
